A warning came this past week about Microsoft pushing subtle ads into the Start Menu of Windows 11. That’s right, we’ve already seen pushes for you to purchase their games, but now, their services as well. Microsoft also tossed adds into their ChatGPT variation on Bing, showing that they may be changing their model more significantly than even I expected. This isn’t exactly thrilling in a world which already bombards us so much with endless ads wherever we go. Minority Report, the movie from some 20 years ago, was far more prescient than we give it credit for.
When do suggestions become advertising? This is a line Microsoft needs to be extremely careful treading.
