Would you rather avoid subtitles? Amazon’s response this week, was to setup a new feature to boost the dialogue on movies at your option. This is something that is currently on select movies and TV shows, but presumably will be rolled out across their entire selection. This is a great response for homes where the audio isn’t that great, where someone is hard of hearing, or where the movie was somehow setup for amazing systems in theaters, but never remixed for the large amount of home users without fancy sound bars, or other audio options other than the TV. I like this, and I’m hoping that some of the folks in Hollywood take heed to this for the future.
Modern audio recording and mixing techniques have led more people than ever to use subtitles for shows and movies, because otherwise, it’s hard to hear people in some scenes. Amazon is trying to fix that with a new feature in Prime Video.
