Apple and Google working together, for a change is great. The latest effort is with Bluetooth trackers like the Apple AirTags, enabling their usage on Android devices, as well as creating an open standard for the other manufacturers, like Tile, Samsung, and more to jump on board. This will allow you to know if someone is using the trackers for more nefarious purposes. Sure, it’s regrettable that we have 100 million trackers just between Apple and Tile out there before a standard was built, but now that this is under way, people should feel more secure as they move about, both with and without trackers.
The proposal would allow both iOS and Android devices to detect an always-on Bluetooth signal, but other companies may have their own ideas.
