A decade and a half have gone by, and Microsoft has had us using the Calibri font that whole time. This week, it was announced that a new font will be replacing it, called Aptos. It’ll be coming to Office 365 very soon. They worked through a few different sans-serif fonts (that means clean, instead of with little flourishes) before settling on this new one. Interestingly enough, they’ll be expanding to add in a few of the other runners-up for our usage. The font is similar to Arial or Calibri, but slightly more bold than before. They made a big deal about how they consulted with a lot of people on this, so it will be interesting to see how the adoption rate goes.

Microsoft has finally decided to switch things up across its Office apps by changing the default font. The company settled for Aptos as the default font for its productivity apps.
