I don’t get it, but California governor, Gavin Newsom appeared to go out of his way to veto a measure that would require human drivers on-board self-driving big-rigs. We rarely allow self-driving cars to be without a human on board, but we can launch massive trucks over 10,000 pounds (the low end of the bill) down the road without a care? For a guy that claims to be watching out for the little guy, this is slated to cost about 200,000 jobs of one of his strongest bases… Teamsters. He pawned it off on the California Department of Motor Vehicles, to decide, so we’ll see how that plays out on the roads.

California’s Democratic governor has vetoed a bill that would have required human drivers to be on board self-driving trucks.
