Intuit, the makers of TurboTax are at it again, but the US Federal Trade Commission has come in and slammed them. The latest order is that Intuit cannot promote it’s products as free, unless they are actually free for all consumers. The order also offers up options for disclosing that some are free, but listing clearly that most do not qualify. This is after previous charges and fines for repeated claims for free, which actually wound up with about 2/3rds of customers having to actually pay. Our own experience here, has shown that TurboTax offers one amount, that keeps climbing higher and higher for the paid services as well.
