Just like the Marvel bad guys Hydra, last week we talked of success taking down one ransomware gang, but soon thereafter, UnitedHealth Group revealed that one of their subsidiaries was hit by a ransomware attack by the Russian group ALPHV/Blackcat, causing significant disruptions across U.S. hospitals and pharmacies. The cybercriminals claimed to have stolen sensitive health information of millions of Americans. National law enforcement and cybersecurity firms are working to mitigate the impact that has led to widespread outages, affecting the processing of prescriptions and causing problems for hospitals and pharmacies nationwide in verifying patient insurance and billing.

The Russia-based ransomware gang ALPHV/BlackCat took credit for the ongoing cyberattack at the UnitedHealth Group health tech subsidiary.
