As we move towards our own election, it’s being reported around the world that other elections have been disrupted by the usage of AI to generate disinformation campaigns. Even today, we are seeing AI deepfakes pushed that purport to be real clips of politicians saying outrageous things. This also means that we increasingly cannot trust everything that we are seeing, on both sides. Tech disruption in previous campaigns was foul enough, but when we can’t even trust any of the news, it could get bad. It is even more incumbent upon us to do proper research, and choose carefully in the matters that could affect us for years to come.

A wave of AI deepfakes has coursed through social media for months, serving as a warning for more than 50 countries heading to the polls this year.
