New stats from Pew Research show that many youth are experiencing positive results when they don’t have their smartphone with them. Happiness and peaceful feelings lead the way for the majority, but there are plenty that feel anxious, upset, or lonely. This may lead towards a deeper understanding if we truly go down some of these roads. I enjoy my time away, as I realize that while connectivity is good, it can also mean responsibility that can be a burden. I’ve long suggested that sabbaticals, even for an afternoon or a day, can be beneficial to balance, as well as understanding the impact on our lives.

The 1,453-person survey also found that 72 percent of teens feel peaceful when they don’t have their phones.
