NASA has a cable channel. I was marginally aware of it, but it’s coming to an end. The reason is fascinating, as they had recently spun up NASA Plus, a free streaming service that covers the gamut of video services. The reason is kinda cool, as they have 4 times more viewership on-line in the 8 months, than on NASA TV. On-demand viewing of live events, news, and original content is actually important, and is where our viewing is going. The implications for cable TV are astounding, as it shows what a powerhouse streaming has become over the years. Cordcutters have been saying this for a while, but this is one of the more obvious proofs.

NASA is shutting down NASA TV in August and will, instead, focus its efforts on its new streaming platform, NASA Plus.
