Not all news is bad news. Coming later this year will be a new Android setting, “school time,” which lets parents manage their child’s device use, aiming to reduce distractions during school hours. The new feature will allow control over apps, the home screen, and yet still allow access to calls and texts from specific contacts. This is important for parents concerned about their child’s focus in class and still allow the device to retain emergency accessibility. Teachers will likely see it as a tool to improve learning environments. Overall, this is a good idea and I’m excited to see if Apple will follow-suit in a similar fashion.
