The latest news of Starliner, and the crew at the ISS is full of concern and speculation. Boeing has an unenviable choice ahead, to push forward and possibly risk two astronauts lives, or to have them hitch a ride on an upcoming SpaceX Dragon trip. Neither of these options is thrilling. To be clear, it’s not a certainty that the astronaut’s are in danger, but there’s been enough concern that their return trip is now 2 months overdue, with no clear return date, yet. One of the options for the SpaceX Crew 9 mission, is to arrive at the ISS with two empty seats, to accommodate the return of Wilmore and Williams. Until then, the two Boeing Starliner crewmembers are able to hang out at the ISS, which has the same living space as a far more successful craft, the Boeing 747.
Two astronauts have been in limbo since June.
