Fake user reviews are now illegal. The FTC announced a rule back in August, and this week it became active. You can even report violations to the FTC if you like. There are some specifics, like if it doesn’t actually reflect the actual experience, if there are incentives, or a lack of disclosure. There’s a few others, such as suppression of reviews by sellers, or a lack of transparency on who owns or runs the website. I have always taken the approach of being above board here, so and will continue to do so to the last day. I’m excited for the possibility of increased truth in this section of the world.
The Federal Trade Commission has announced that its rule aimed at preventing false consumer reviews is now in effect.
