The Federal Trade Commission announced this last week that they have a final click-to-cancel rule. This new rule’s provisions go into effect about 180 days from now. The various provisions setup removing many of the impediments that stand in our way when we wish to cancel. There are a lot of hard and fast statements in the new rule, about truthful statements, knowing what you’re agreeing to before you sign up, and quick and easy ways to cancel. This is a modernization of a 1973 rule that takes into account how we have evolved in the modern world. The simple quote that stands out; “Nobody should be stuck paying for a service they no longer want.”
