The world of ad-blocking is slowly falling apart. Google (#1 search engine) has looked the other way for years, but it’s clearly in their best interests to defend Google Ads (#1 search ad company) . One of the top extensions for ad-blocking is uBlock Origin, which has been blocked in the Chrome Web Store, for not using the latest backend code. The latest backend code removes some of the options used for tracking ads in webpages. This is part of another push that appears to be coming, to disable all manner of extensions in Chrome (#1 browser) in usage in the US. Nearly 1 billion people use ad blockers around the world, and this will slowly serve to shake up the internet, with more ads, more used bandwidth, and more control for Google.
The upcoming switch to Manifest V3 extensions is a ticking clock for uBlock Origin and its 40 million users.
