Russia levied a fine against Google in 2020 that doubles every week. It’s up to $20 decillion, which is merely a 2 followed by 34 zeros. Compare that to the entire GDP of the world… just over $100 Trillion, or 1, followed by 14 zeros. Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is worth about 2 trillion, but that hasn’t stopped Russia from chasing after them, seizing assets in various locations. This all started over Google blocking a few different Kremlin-backed TV networks from posting their own videos. The situation is not likely to change much, as both sides seem to be digging in until the fine is $1 googol, 1, followed by 100 zeros.
The court imposed the fine, which is doubling every week, following lawsuits brought by Russian TV channels blocked from YouTube.
