Hertz Rent-A-Car says that it is continuing to sell off their electric vehicles, and will continue through 2025. This was a continuation of a massive abandonment of their plans to move towards a much larger electric fleet. Their previous CEO was let go for the various problems with that effort, and the pendulum appears to have swung hard in the other direction. The latest reports are that the selloff is due to massive depreciation, but that’s also coupled with their previous complaints of higher than average maintenance needs, and a reluctance by consumers to rent EVs. Where will that leave the struggling industry which accounts for about 7% of cars on the road?
