Mozilla, the makers of the Firefox browser has done a major layoff, the second in a years time. They are a non-profit organization, and this layoff is relatively small, but it also represents a reduction over the massive growth in the past couple of years. 2022 had 60 employees, and the totals before the layoff were 120. The number of folks are about 40, which represent two major divisions, global programs and advocacy. The browser itself isn’t likely to go anywhere, but it’s low usage rates have hovered around the 3 to 4% range for a long time… 5 years and running, with minor blips.
This is the second layoff at Mozilla this year, the first affecting dozens of staff on the side of the organization that builds the popular Firefox browser.
