Netflix underwent an interesting transformation in the past week. A week ago, they laid off Team Blue, their AAA gaming division, of about 35 employees. On the heels of that, they started showing off their GenAI for Games. This other team is working on using AI to build new games for their subscribers. The news sounds bad for general workers, but the deeper analysis leads some to believe that the idea of top tier gaming was not the place for a streaming service. The goal is more casual gaming, especially considering their existing games are in that casual realm anyway.
