Amazon is being sued by the DC attorney general for allegedly discriminating against two ZIP codes. The core of this comes from a withdrawal of their own trucks from these neighborhoods, and then offloading that work to a third party for delivery. This resulted in slower delivery times compared to neighboring areas, despite paying the same subscription fee. Amazon’s response was that their trucks were being directly targeted, causing them to look for alternative solutions that would still deliver, but not be in as much danger. The lawsuit will go to trial in June 2025, so perhaps they may come up with an alternative solution between now and then, but for some, the damage is already done.
Amazon’s actions caused more than 48,000 Prime members to get slower delivery than the rest of the capital city, Attorney General Brian Schwalb claimed.
