Amazon’s “Try Before You Buy” is spinning down at the end of this month, after being put in place in 2018. This was a good feature for people in hard to fit sizes, like myself. However, it did drive a higher amount of returns for Amazon, a pain point as they say $816 billion in lost sales due to returns in 2022, and presumably more since. Amazon’s announcement reflected how they worked to apply other features like an AI virtual try-on, size recommendations, and other features, which should improve the experience otherwise. It’s a feature that I’ve had to use less recently, so I’m not mourning the loss.

Amazon claims that customers are increasingly using AI-powered virtual try-on tools.
