Deepseek, the new AI made in China ruffled a lot of feathers in the past 2 weeks. Announcements of how few chips they need send Nvidia stock tumbling hard. Italy locked them out, for fears of concern. A cyberattack on Deepseek servers sent them into a lockdown to Chinese users only. Microsoft and Meta both talked in their quarterly meetings about how they are taking learnings from this, and dismissed many concerns. Accusations of censorship, as well as concerns of a deeply disturbing end user license agreement also hit them. This also doesn’t affect most of us, and yet, Keith and I will discuss more.
