We’ve been hearing about it, and this week’s Amazon event was all about one thing. Amazon’s Alexa is getting the upgrade to Generative AI, or basically, a deeper understanding than simple question and answer time. The overall big news on this is that for existing members of Amazon Prime, it’s free, instead of behind a paywall. If you don’t have Prime, you’ll pay $20 a month, which is nearly twice the cost of Prime. Not sure how many or few people fit that, considering the usual purchasers of Amazon Alexa devices are already deep into the eco-system already. The only drawback is not knowing how much more data that Amazon is collecting on us.
