Recently we covered how Netflix subscribers are up. Amazon doesn’t reveal their numbers, but the 3rd place service does… Disney+. This is where it’s unfortunate, as Disney, who recently raised prices, has lost 700,000 subscribers in the latest quarter. This is the first time they’ve reported loss since the service launched, and I think it’s a rarity amongst any streaming service in the top 10. They claim it’s not as bad as expected, and they also expect another decline next quarter, so this is mildly disturbing, but not alarming. Disney has a higher opportunity for profit than most streamers, owning so many properties, that they have time to adjust and balance things out without much worry.
