Uber and DoorDash have been competitors for a while. This week, Uber launched a lawsuit over anti-competitive practices against DoorDash. Allegations against DoorDash include how they were threatening higher commission rates for any vendor who was also on Uber Eats, or threatening to demote results for restaurants who dealt with Uber. DoorDash is clearly the big one in the delivery game, claiming some 90% of the major restaurants in the US are on their platform. I’ve been less than thrilled with either experience, with my most recent pizza delivery via DoorDash left on an ice cold doorstep, without so much as a doorbell ring, or a notice from the restaurant I ordered from.
Uber is suing DoorDash, accusing the biggest food delivery provider in the US of threatening to raise restaurants’ commission rates if they also use Uber Eats.
