For those that are privacy minded, but still have Amazon Echo devices, the ecosystem is changing. On 4th gen Echo Dot’s, and the Echo Show 10 and 15, you used to be able to have local processing, and keep your information in-house. As a part of Alexa+, it seems that they are now moving that process to the cloud, having their servers do the work. They do say that, if you choose an option that reads “Don’t save recordings”, that the voice recordings will be deleted after the Alexa request is processed, but it does raise questions about future directions.
The change, which applies to the Echo Dot (4th Gen), Echo Show 10 and Echo Show 15, goes into effect March 28.
