At the end of January, some good news came in a few forms for smartwatch users. PebbleOS was made open source by Google, and the inventor of the Pebble Watch announced a new venture, called rePebble. This week, the announced two new updated versions coming later this year, advancing on the last series with a few new features. I’m definitely happy about the new battery time, the increase in features, and the news. At 30 days of battery life, it’s definitely tempting me away from my mechanical watches, and the price point is alluring. We’ll have to see how this evolves, but I’m looking forward to seeing them compete and drive innovation again.
