At SXSW, Mark Cuban also noted something about tools. His approach is clear and simple, as it should be about all of technology. His statement at one point was “AI is never the answer. AI is the tool. Whatever skills you have, you can use AI to amplify them.” This is a key item for all of us to be remembering along the way. This similar approach has been given over the ages, on many different stages of technology. I have leveraged AI for a number of things, but I don’t treat AI as a solution to all of my concerns in life. The tech avoiding communities, like the Amish, could perhaps use more technology than they do, but they will never treat it as more than a tool for specific purposes that they feel are good. We could learn from them, even if we don’t adopt their ways.
