A clickbait headline talks about a dramatic speed cap for Starlink users. After you use 40GB of data, your cap kicks in, and downgrades your service to 1Mpbs… a speed that was hideous back 20 years ago. The gotcha is that it’s only on a specific type of business account, not the residential users. Still, in the office, this is a crippling hit when you’re trying to do business in the modern age. Yes, there are upgrade paths, but this isn’t the least bit business friendly. Sure, there are upgrade paths to add in 50 or 500 gigs, or various higher options, but when everything is going cloud, this is going to hurt a lot. Perhaps a more gentle slowdown, rather than a near business-ending lockdown, would be more appropriate.
