We should all be familiar with the odometer in our cars. You hop in your car, and you drive, and it tracks the miles travelled. It’s a simple process, and is supposed to be accurate. A new lawsuit in California against Tesla levies accusations that Tesla’s are falsely adding miles to push warranty expiration earlier. The lawsuit claims that Tesla is employing “an odometer system that utilizes predictive algorithms, energy consumption metrics, and driver behavior multipliers that manipulate and misrepresent the actional mileage”. This is a scary thought, and is backed by other claims on the Internet. This is not a good year for Tesla at all.
This is a separate case to the lawsuits alleging Tesla misleads about range.
