In 2020, a battle started between Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, and Apple over payment. One of Apple’s great money makers has been the fees for apps as run through their App Store, taking about 30% of each fee you make through there. Epic Games disputed that and Apple bumped their app off the store. After years of court wrangling, Apple pretended to allow it in 2024, yet extended their hands still out for 27% of revenues on the Epic website, using a loophole. Epic responded with a complaint, and this week, the judge revised the injunction against Apple with a massive setback, that eliminates, in clear wording, how little that Apple can interfere with the link out to the website.
