How can ChatGPT make more money, or at least recoup some of their losses from their free AI offerings? In GPT-4o, the most recent model of ChatGPT, they are rolling out a feature that will drive an online shopping experience they say is improved over what we have seen from the big guy in the field… Google. They have noted that ads are not part of this upgrade, but haven’t exactly ruled that out either. Sam Altman, the CEO, has said that he would be open to “tasteful” advertising, where OpenAI would charge fees for purchases, but with no priority placement in mind. I’m not fully convinced, as this is a world that moves fast and is still very new.
