Jeff Bezos has backed Slate Auto, and that may have been a good idea. In just a couple of weeks, they managed to pickup reservations of 100,000 of these highly customizable low end electric trucks. Yes, there’s a long history of problems in this industry, and this machine is not what most people think about, but this is still something. As previously mentioned, it’s going to start below $20k, after some $7,500 in federal tax credits, but that’s for discussion later, as there’s some pushback on that tax credit, as well as all kinds of different requirements and hoops to jump through. Still, if Slate delivers, it looks like potential to be one of the best competitors on the EV scene, even without a stereo… or power windows… or… well, you get the idea.
