Nearly two years on, Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, for nearly $70 million, is nearing acceptance. The Federal Trade Commission has been fighting this, while Microsoft continued to note that it was in their best interests to leave options open for placing the games on all platforms, instead of exclusively on the Microsoft Windows and Xbox platforms. Of course, some of this comes from Sony and Nintendo locking others out, but Microsoft has stated multiple times that their goals don’t lie in that direction. The FTC announced this week that they would be dismissing the litigation and moving on to other issues rather than continuing.
The Federal Trade Commission has finally given up the ghost on challenging Microsoft’s $68.7 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard.
