In the land down under, an interesting rail locomotive experiment was put in place for regenerative braking. This is the idea that you put more energy back into the batteries from the braking you do along the way. Fortescue came up with an idea of an iron ore train, fully loaded on a near 700 mile trip downhill, could charge the batteries up for the empty ride back those 700 miles. The so-called Infinity Train completed their first test this past week, and seems to have been successful, with an idea that was unveiled only 3 years ago. This could be a game changer, with the idea of saving vast amounts of fuel, and reducing emissions.
