For 8 months last year, a teenager in Texas, Siddarth Nandyala worked on a new app to find heart problems at an early stage. Usually these issues would pop up after a stroke or heart attack, but his app skips over the usual echocardiograms, blood tests, and other high end approaches. In his case, it was done via a smartphone, and it’s apparently quite successful at 96% accuracy. No, don’t get this kid wrong… he’s a brainiac. At 11, he designed a prosthetic arm for $150. At 13, an armband that detects falls for the elderly at a higher accuracy than the Apple Watch. At 14, he’s a freshman at the University of Texas. His plans are to continue with this same concept from the heart, to the lungs. Definitely a young person to watch.
