Big news keeps coming about the Return To Office. The biggest announcement was Amazon advising employees to relocate or resign. Let’s be clear, the numbers aren’t public, but the demand has been shared far and wide. 30 days to decide, 60 days to complete, and for some, this may be a decision of selling a home and relocating as much as halfway across the country to one of 3 locations. No severance pay, because it’s a resignation. But let’s put that aside… it also comes at a time where the company is touting employee reductions due to AI, for which they will commit $105 Billion to this year. I fear that other companies may see this brash move, and decide to follow suit, all to put people in an open office concept with cube farms and hoteling, that make workers even more miserable.
