ChatGPT has been used as a writing tool for long enough that the overall lexicon of users has been expanding. It searches for words and phrases that it feels are best, and ignores some of our standard vernacular along the way. Certain ChatGPT words are favored by the AI, but as we see them more often, we are apparently adopting them into our own speech patterns. A study has found that has led to words like “delve,” “realm,” or “meticulous” being in more common usage and conversation as people continue to use AI in their own lives. I’m hoping the em-dash still stays off our emails, however, as I don’t regularly use it, myself.
AI isn’t just getting into your writing. It’s also getting into your mind and then out of your mouth.
