I recently discussed that the entire Commodore platform was picked up for a song. I also expected that it would take a year or more before we heard back on the next steps. I was off by 11 1/2 months or so. Commodore, an early approachable computer for the masses, had something called the Commodore 64. The team quickly announced a newly updated version of the hardware that includes USB, HDMI hookups, 50 games, and a bit more modernization than one could ever imagine. It does serve as a nostalgia piece and is not likely to run email, internet browsers, or the like, but it will serve for a nice return to yesteryear. $300 apiece, with about 8000 units already sold in the first batch.
It’ll be able to play over 10,000 classic C64 games and will support HDMI, USB, and Wi-Fi connections.
