ChatGPT 5 arrived with much fanfare two weeks ago. It was faster, improved responses, and less hallucination. In the span of time since, many have said that it wasn’t as great in many other ways, and that the benchmarks were appearing to show decreasing numbers. A number of different negative concerns have come out regarding AGI, or Artificial General Intelligence, and how close we might be to this. The prevailing thought is that just throwing more GPUs at the problem may not be the solution, as there is only so much ability for electricity to move through the transistors, and for processing to occur. This isn’t the end to AI, however, as there are large investments everywhere, and numerous observed benefits. Does that mean we should ignore it? No. Dive in now, learn what you can, and have it serve as an assistant to do tasks that you know it will do faster than you.
Skepticism is mounting as the rate of progress for scalable artificial intelligence models appears to be slowing down.
