Scientists have announced scientific evidence that confirmed that the human eye cannot distinguish between 1440p and 8K resolution at 10 feet away.  Let’s get one thing out of the way, and that is that 1440p is a resolution that’s between 2K and 4k.  So rounding up, this shows that if you’re greater than 10 feet away, the need for these massive TV upgrades for resolution is no longer a factor.  8K is only available from Samsung in 2025, but your investment is better in the other features.  As we near peak buying season, there are other factors that we can focus on, including depth of color, and contrast, leading towards OLED or QLED screens.  We also need to be watching refresh rates that cover how fast the screen updates.  Additionally, smart features like streaming apps, voice control, and also connectivity issues like more HDMI or USB ports.

Measuring the pixel-per-degree of a display, researchers found the human eye can see up to 94 PPD for grey, but as few as 53 for yellow and violet.
