Apple’s announcement of no trade-in value for Apple Vision Pro came the same week that Samsung announced their Galaxy XR goggles that are nearly half that of Apple’s. While Apple is on their second version of the idea, with the new M5 chip, it’s still lagging in some areas in comparison. Put up against the Apple Vision Pro M5, Samsung’s is a little lighter, with a little better field of view, and resolution. Sure, the battery is a little better, and the frames per second, but it seems that they are still competing in the same space. Nevertheless, at $1800, Samsung it placing this clearly in a marketplace that is not for most people. I’m not fully sold on the idea of the isolated concept of these types of devices, and my thoughts say that either one’s long-term use case for me seems to be just an expensive toy on my shelf of misfit toys.
