A new level of ad-driven creep factor is coming, and I’m astonished that anyone thought this wasn’t.  DirecTV’s Gemini streaming devices are going to start scraping data from who knows where about you.  It’ll then use that to develop a realistic avatar of you, your family, or even pets to display screensaver ads with products featuring the user of those products as you.  Sure, the expectation is that you will more likely buy a product if you see yourself in it… like the mirrors at every clothing store, but does this take technology to a beneficial level?  I fear a world where people have no inkling of the creep factor that is involved with something so intrusive, and I’ll likely abandon any brand that comes along hawking products to me using my own likeness.

After Google Shopping, AI tryouts are coming to your TV’s screensaver with AI-generated ads that uses your face to sell you products.
