Last week, I talked about Pavan Davuluri, the head of Microsoft’s Window’s Team. The news then was about the backlash against his indication that Windows was going to continue to ignore users, and go headlong towards an Agentic Operating System (meaning, all AI and taking over our lives in unimaginable ways). This week, the feedback was apparently received and somewhat walked back. Now, it does lack details or assurances, but he did seem to acknowledge that there is a serious gap between what Microsoft has been peddling, and what the users want. The problem with a behemoth like Microsoft, handling the main interface of nearly 90% of the laptop and desktop systems, is that we can’t know for sure if this is fluff to calm us, or if they will continue, along with Apple, to tell us that they know best what we want.
