When we think of space stations, most of us think of sci-fi or the ISS, or International Space Station. The Tiangong is China’s own space station, and has been orbiting the Earth since April 2021, without much concern. This week, however, it was announced that 3 of their astronauts are going to hang out for a little while longer than their planned 6 month visit. The Shenzhou-20 was slated for return on November 5th, but it appears to have been struck by some space debris, and they are having to figure out the safety of usage, and possible options from here. There are backup plans, however, including a mission that’s on standby, so we’ll see how it all rolls out.
