Microsoft’s current Windows lead, Pavan Davuluri, has been pushing the idea via tweets that Windows will evolve into an agentic OS. This posting resulted in a majority of comments, presumably customers, all dismissing the idea. This echos a similar complaint that many have had about CoPilot, as well as the competitor, Apple with their Apple Intelligence. Don’t get me wrong; AI is going to need to become part of our lives, but this needs to be an organic delivery, full of optional approaches, not a foisting of someone else’s idea of what we need. There’s a fine line between offering something, and being left with no options, and both companies, covering nearly 95% of non-mobile operating systems, are pushing forward with a zeal that is disturbing, as the users are ignored and find little to no excitement in the onslaught of AI everything. Focusing heavily on this approach, to the exclusion of everything else, could actually slow down the pace of excitement in technology.
