If you think you’re having problems with AI being wrong, imagine librarians. Many years ago, I approached a librarian with a vague storyline from a book I read years prior, and she told me the name and author without batting an eye. These folks who seem quiet at all times, reserved and studious, who you can rely upon for information off of the internet are now fighting back, softly and gently. Apparently they have been constantly bombarded by requests for books that don’t exist anywhere except in the hallucinations of AI. It has arrived at the point where many are having to argue with people who somehow insist that AI must be more right than the professionals who have been doing this for years. This is an example of how life could go, however, so it’s important that we all take the time to take care to listen to the folks who can be a resource in a time of bookish need.
