Netflix is a juggernaut in the streaming world. It just announced plans to acquire one of the largest libraries of tv and video entertainment, Warner Bros. Amazon purchased the MGM library a couple years back, at 4,000 film titles and 17,000 TV episodes. Netflix said “hey, let’s outdo Amazon”, and Warner Bros, with HBO and HBO Max, results in a massively larger setup. 12,500 feature films, 2,400 TV programs comprising of 150,000 individual episodes, for a total of 145,000 hours of programming. The purchase price was huge as well, where the Amazon purchase of MGM was $8.5, Netflix popped down $82.7 Billion for Warner Bros. Netflix has noted that they plan to keep HBO Max separate for the meantime, and there’s a good year or more before this clears through the various government approvals, but this is a large amount of potential viewing.
