I’m not sure what to make over the observation that Apple changed the method of configuring your Mac purchase to the same way they do iPhones and other products. OK, so up until a week ago, they gave you a series of 2 or 3 options to start with, and then you went in and performed some tweaks. The new method is simply that you choose the product then start adjusting your RAM, processor, drive sizes, screen options, and more. Each component is selected from scratch, defining your machine purchase to your needs. Many folks already do this in the customization space, and even Apple has for a long time. To me, it seems like a logical approach, and it shortens the path to purchase. Yet, I saw a number of articles ranging from how revolutionary it was, to my own reflection that it’s just a little different and less confusing.
Each component is treated separately, as if you’re building a machine from scratch.
