The world of robotics is building closer to some of that theming from various dystopian movies. A Chinese firm has come up with a new robot, called Moya, that is amongst some of the most lifelike footage that I’ve seen yet. Don’t get me wrong… it’s still clearly a robot, but they’re starting to move into designs where eyes move, and the skin is warmed to simulate a real person. Even more interesting, however, is that the makers are using items like simulated rib cages, and building in micro-expressions that may help bridge the gap towards something people can accept as realistic enough for usage in their homes. Of course, this thing costs more than 2 luxury cars, and is not exactly ready for delivery. I’m not so sure that I’d ever want a robot in my house, either, and while we talk about it, I don’t know that there are many that are ready for that kind of experience. Time will tell.
